SHARE YOUR WORLD – 2015 WEEK #48

Are you a hugger or a non-hugger?

HUGGER with a capital H!!!! I have been known to hug a perfect stranger! But if I feel the tension in a greeting I will stay hands off!

What is your favorite toppings on pizza?

Onions and mushroom! (Ha Onions and hugging seem like a match made in heaven!!!) Veggies all the way, although I have been known to eat pepperoni. Heck after not being able to eat pizza for so long I will eat it almost anyway it comes! What? Yep! Could not tolerate the spice in the tomato sauce or the tomatoes for that fact! Curious why? Check out “My Story” @ Sunny Oils

If you were the original designer of one existing corporate logo, which one would you select?

For me logos are a fascination! Your one quick chance to get your point across in an image or words. For me hands down it would be “Disney” that I would have designed. Just look at what it portrays… at least in my eyes! FUN, whimsy, personal! It is so easily incorporated into all aspects of the Disney company! I would so loved to have added my personal touch!

So logos have a whole psychology about them! I recently had to come up with a logo and had to convey a message to my “people”. You have to consider the psychology behind colors and emotions! Ha notice Disney is Black and white portraying “Balance”! And then look at Diversity! I think Disney needs to move into that color scheme as the parks are more diverse than most other places you go! People from all over the world walking and enjoying themselves in one place! Maybe knowing what the company aims to do with their logo it can help you feel more connected to the brand, the product and most of all the emotion they want you to feel.

Complete this sentence:  Where I can seek my solace is…

Really… I would like to say the beach or forest or somewhere out in nature cause I find those places most tranquil but in honesty it is my bedroom.

When I want to be left along, comforted, have a quiet break I run for the confines of my bedroom. Lights dim, diffuser going, fan swirling, peace and tranquility for sure! And of course my dogs are with me, giving me greater solace!

Bonus question:  What are you grateful for from last week, and what are you looking forward to in the week coming up?

Well, last week was Thanksgiving so I would like to say that but honestly it was having time off from the alarm clock! I love not having to set an alarm clock or really having to wake up to an alarm clock! Somehow my sleep is so much better with out the eminent sound!!!

Looking forward to Friday!!!!!!

Getting Back on the Horse

Getting back to blogging s like the old proverbial horse. “Just Do IT”. So I am making that commitment. I am a checklist kinda gal, if I write it, I WILL get it done. Thinking it doesn’t do enough for me! So, I am making this pledge! I am getting back on the horse and I will do IT!

Love Yourself Enough

Loving yourself enough is a hard concept for most! Infact I was in the majority of people who did not truly grasp this concept until my health started to deteriorate. I thought “illness” is what happened to other people. I understood that it could be me “one day”, but, I thought that “one day” was FAR…FAR… into the future! Not one that was around the corner for me! So as things went wrong I knew I HAD to do something different! I am grateful everyday that I was pushed into my path! ❤ MichelleIMG_8716[1]

Small Business Saturday

I have made it a point the last few years to support Small Businesses for my holiday shopping. It took me a few years to realize the impact of shopping small over shopping big box businesses.

Small business sat

I have ordered 2 handmade signs from a local mom who makes signs. I have ordered 3 handmade essential oil bags for friends. I have ordered a handbag through someone who sells Luci Bags. I think it is so much more meaningful knowing that I am not only giving a personalized gift but I am helping a family put food on the table over paying big box retail prices.

If you have been interested in essential oils head over to http://www.sunnyoils.com and check me out! Purchase a Premium Starter Kit and I will send you a bottle of Christmas Spirit, Orange or Nutmeg. I will continue knocking off my holiday list with other small businesses. ❤ Michelle

Airports & Travel

Airports are such a fascinating place to me! The people, the sights, the sounds, even the smells. The anxious tension is in the “air” quite literally. I can’t help but wonder where people are coming from, going to, what the purpose for travel is? Are they going to see a long lost friend, a dying aunt, a business trip?

As a kid I traveled solo all the time. The airport always brings me to that moment as a child where I feel the nervous energy. The dreams and excitement of what is to come.

Walking down the long terminals, people passing each other with oblivion, the TSA agents swiping your hands for explosives just adds to the emotion.

My best friends on my recent trip were Thieves Hand Sanitizer and Thieves Spray. The last time I flew it was the EBOLA scare so I am just a bit paranoid. Sure I smelled like cinnamon but that is far better than other smells for sure! Spray on the airplane armrests, on my scarf and hands periodically! I was NOT taking any chances! I wanted to be able to make it to my destination with out bringing home any unwanted friends!

So the next time you are in the airport look into the faces of people around you and wonder… what is this trip bringing them, excitement? sadness? closure? more knowledge?

Sharing Your World 2015: Week 4

As usual it has been a roller coaster of a week.

Where did you live at age five?  Is it the same place or town you live now?

I lived in Tampa, Florida with my mom. She was a single parent and we lived in a one bedroom apartment which I remember vividly.

Surprisingly I learned this past October that at age 3 my mother took me away from my father. I of course knew nothing about this. My mom is gone and can not ask. But my father told me he came home from work and my mom and I were gone! He did not hear from my mom again until I was 5! I can’t imagine his pain!!! This leaves me wondering so much!!! My was BLOWN AWAY by this news. and strangely enough it came up in casual conversation with my daughter and my father. I knew nothing about this and at this point… not sure I wanna know more…

You are invited to a party that will be attended by many fascinating people you never met.  Would you attend this party if you were to go by yourself?

I would go by myself. I am at the point in my life when I say no regrets. You never know how your life could change by who you meet.. I could meet someone I could learn so much from!

Did you grow up in a small or big town? Did you like it?

I grew up in Tampa from age 3 to age 10. I loved the special places my mom took me. I did fly to Chicago each summer solo to visit my uncle, my mom’s brother. I absolutely loved this town!!! There is soooo much to see and do. We moved back there at age 12 just for 2 years and loved all the museums, zoos and parks.

As a kid, what did you want to be when you grew up?

As a kid I do not remember wanting to be anything. Weird I know! But as a teen my thoughts were architect, oceanographer, psychologist. In college, my first four years, my major was psychology. In year 5, I changed my major to special education. I use psychology everyday in my classroom.

Bonus question:  What are you grateful for from last week, and what are you looking forward to in the week coming up?

From last week I am grateful for a a lot.

1. My son who last year thought he would not graduate from high school received a letter to the Honor Society. He has returned to the public school system after 3 years of virtual school and clearly is ROCKING it! Proof, that if you set your mind to something you can do it!! Proud momma moment!

2. I spent almost 2 hours on the phone with my daughter this past weekend! I loved every minute of it!!!

3. I am thankful for my journey with Young Living. Both sides of using oils hit home this week. One they kept me healthy with the dreaded flu going around school, I have been heavily oiled! And when our bank account fell short this month my extra income saved the day!I look forward to a quiet weekend as this week is almost over! Hubby is working his weekend so this police wife gets to spend it alone…

Enough is Enough? Then Change Something!

In response to the Daily Post’s Challenge

https://dailypost.wordpress.com/dp_prompt/enough-is-enough/

I have been at the point of Enough is Enough too many times to count. I am the type of person who when I get to that point of saying, “I have had enough!!” I make a change! I am not one to stay put and have a pity party.

1. The day the doctor told me to file for disability. Nope I did not throw in the towel. I fought back and am better than ever.

2. When my son started having behavioral issues at age 3. I did not throw in the towel. I has been a LONG HARD road. Numerous doctors, medicines, hospital visits, therapists, fights, interventions. Happy to say he is resilient and fighting back every day!

3. When my teenage daughter was going down the wrong path. I had had ENOUGH. I forced her to make a change. Ha. Yeah grounding, talking non stop, and a bit of praying too! In the end she did make a change and is the most beautiful young lady today!

So when forced to say, “I have had enough!”

Make a change and SHINE on!

Shine on

Five for Friday #2

This week has had many highs and lows! Roller coaster of emotions! Not sure if it is hormonal or just the stage of life…

grateful

My 5 for Friday Gratitude – This week I am grateful for…

1. My son received an invitation to the Honor Society. So for most parents this is just a blink but for this kid it is an amazing feat! A year ago he was set on not graduating High School. He was doing online virtual school and very unmotivated and did not see the future that laid ahead of him. Enter summer and he had a big wake up call and made the decision himself to go back to school. He had been in virtual school for three years, it started out great but lack intrinsic motivation was his downfall. Now back in school even with 3,000 students he is doing great! School and his future is NOW important to him! Nothing can stand in his way!

2. I received my kit of 120 essential oils. What an awesome reward!!! Whoo Hoo! Still overwhelmed by this! It is worth $2,000. CRAZY!!! When it arrived I was so excited! Then the feeling of being overwhelmed hit!  I have banged against a wall and am not quite ready to dig in yet! Hopefully this weekend I will have time to organize it and have a testing fest!!! I am ready to conquer any health issue with this set!

3. Sooo thankful for my pups this week! They have been my comfort while hubby is working. Officers wife can get tough.

4. Gelato- Specifically Bryers Tiramisu I read about this from a fellow blogger. I searched it out and OHHHH MY!!! Heavenly!!!! I am rationing it out for myself!

5. Next week is National Literacy Week and my school does a lot of fun activities and the kids get so excited!
