Share Your World – 2015 WEEK #50

It is another Week and THAT much closer to the end of the Year!!!

Favorite thing to photograph? Write? Or Cook?

These are all three different things for me! I will give all three a whirl!

I love to photograph nature!

Lucky I work just outside of 135 acres of Pine Forest! There is LOTS of Nature to go around!

I love to write about kids and essential oils! Visit my other Blogs at

And I love to cook dinner… Simply cause it is brings the family together. Usually breakfast and lunch we are all out on our own but traditionally in my house dinner has been the meal that brings us all together. Although with Hubby working night, daughter moving out and son being a teenager dinner is looking a bit different in my house.

Did you like swinging as a child? Do you still get excited when you see a swing?

I LOVED swinging as a child! There was something SO comforting about swinging. When my kids were little I attempted  to revisit my childhood love by swinging along side my kids or putting them on my lap and joining for a whirl! The feeling was NO WHERE near the same! The last time I swung WILL BE the LAST time. My head did not recover so well and for days my body still felt off… In motion… 😦 I remember being glad I had a stroller to grip onto for the walk home. This was better left as a childhood memory! This is not something that gets better with age!

What has surprised you about blogging?

I have been surprised by looking forward to reading other people’s blogs. When they don’t blog for a few days I truly miss them!!

In the writing aspect I have loved sharing my love of oils with people who are new to oils or seasoned people looking for a new way to use oils! Making and sharing new recipes is my favorite.

List at least five favorite desserts.

Hmmmm… My mouth is watering just thinking about this!

  1. Tiramsu (Special OCCASION)
  2. Chocolate Ice Cream
  3. Dark Chocolate (the darker the better)
  4. Pie-Pumpkin, cherry, apple, peach (if it is still warm it is EVEN better!)
  5. Jello – I know BUT I LOVE JELLO
  6. Carrot Cake!!!

Bonus question:  What are you grateful for from last week, and what are you looking forward to in the week coming up?

I am grateful for support of friends through some tough times last week and I am SOOOO Looking forward to Star Wars VII! Going opening night!!! (I know geeky but that is OK!)

Crafty

So I decided to get crafty and make diffuser bracelets to give as holiday gifts. I coupled them with small dram sizes of Orange or Lavender Oil. They are a big hit among my friends and colleagues! The school smells great! Back to the craft store I go!!! I see a weekend of crafting ahead! Also making Chest rub for my hacking school friends!IMG_8959[1]

Small Business Saturday

I have made it a point the last few years to support Small Businesses for my holiday shopping. It took me a few years to realize the impact of shopping small over shopping big box businesses.

Small business sat

I have ordered 2 handmade signs from a local mom who makes signs. I have ordered 3 handmade essential oil bags for friends. I have ordered a handbag through someone who sells Luci Bags. I think it is so much more meaningful knowing that I am not only giving a personalized gift but I am helping a family put food on the table over paying big box retail prices.

If you have been interested in essential oils head over to http://www.sunnyoils.com and check me out! Purchase a Premium Starter Kit and I will send you a bottle of Christmas Spirit, Orange or Nutmeg. I will continue knocking off my holiday list with other small businesses. ❤ Michelle

Airports & Travel

Airports are such a fascinating place to me! The people, the sights, the sounds, even the smells. The anxious tension is in the “air” quite literally. I can’t help but wonder where people are coming from, going to, what the purpose for travel is? Are they going to see a long lost friend, a dying aunt, a business trip?

As a kid I traveled solo all the time. The airport always brings me to that moment as a child where I feel the nervous energy. The dreams and excitement of what is to come.

Walking down the long terminals, people passing each other with oblivion, the TSA agents swiping your hands for explosives just adds to the emotion.

My best friends on my recent trip were Thieves Hand Sanitizer and Thieves Spray. The last time I flew it was the EBOLA scare so I am just a bit paranoid. Sure I smelled like cinnamon but that is far better than other smells for sure! Spray on the airplane armrests, on my scarf and hands periodically! I was NOT taking any chances! I wanted to be able to make it to my destination with out bringing home any unwanted friends!

So the next time you are in the airport look into the faces of people around you and wonder… what is this trip bringing them, excitement? sadness? closure? more knowledge?

Our Ways – We Have Choices

For my whole life I had fallen into a fallacy that the only way to get medical help was to go to a medical doctor. I was in the group of 99% of American who had the mindset of go to the doctor, get a pill and expect to feel well.

My mom did her best to guide me in the direction of health. When her own health failed my vision began to get cloudy. No longer did I see the health care system as one that could “fix” everything. In 2012 my own health started to diminish. At 44, I had a rheumatologist, neurologist, gastroentrologist, gynecologist, endocrinologist, primary care and psychiatrist! I had 25 prescriptions and a HUGE out of pile of building medical bills. All this and I still felt AWFUL!!! When my doctor said “IT is time you consider disability”, I had a wake up call.

A personality trait of mine is that I DON’T GIVE UP OR GIVE IN easily. So I set my own path to find a way to keep the job I love so much! Alternatives… Western Medicine, acupuncture, supplements, essential oils all available or no clue IF they could help me, how to use them, who could help? So good ‘ole Google became my friend that summer! I stumbled across a company that was not new. I like stability, research, knowledge. So in I jumped! Essential Oils here I come!

18 months later I have 1 medication (synthroid as I have no working thyroid), a primary care and tons of oils! So my new ways are using oils everyday. Helping others discover the benefits for them and FEELING BETTER than I ever have before.

So a fellow blogger posed these questions that go me thinking. I know what I did when traditional medicine did not help? What are your opinions?

Take the challenge here!

https://closetoeighty.wordpress.com/2015/01/10/new-challenge-our-ways/

Should each of us take responsibility for her/his health? How important is fitness, prevention of diseases? Is it necessary to teach children about health? How can we drastically cut number of obese people? How can we cut expenses? Must medical schools teach courses of nutrition, aromatherapy, etc.? Should we rely less on medications?

peppermint

Calm Down and then Some!

The aromatic smell of lavender can do so much! This powerful scent can settle a baby, help you relax, calm an ADHD child. This is one oil I diffuse regularly in the classroom. I have seen the most active child settle after diffusing this! It is a wonderful oil to use during yoga and meditation!

l

It also has an incredible power to heal! From cuts to scrapes to burns lavender can do it all! Just a tad on a burn will take away to awful sensation! Keep a bit handy in a spray bottle with distilled water for little ones! make a cream for eczema!

booboo

Use it alongside peppermint, and lemon for an allergy remedy. 3 drops of in a diffuser will help control yucky seasonal allergies, 5 drops each in a capsule and you will start feeling relief soon! AMAZING Relief!
