Crafty

So I decided to get crafty and make diffuser bracelets to give as holiday gifts. I coupled them with small dram sizes of Orange or Lavender Oil. They are a big hit among my friends and colleagues! The school smells great! Back to the craft store I go!!! I see a weekend of crafting ahead! Also making Chest rub for my hacking school friends!IMG_8959[1]

At What Point?

As much as I try to keep myself positive some days the boiling point just feels low! I know I can’t be the only parent that has these days. If you have ever had a teenager you know my pain, if you have had a bipolar teenager than you really KNOW my pain!

I love to hear, “Well IF he were my kid…” It is so easy to throw stones but if you haven’t walked in someone’s shoes sometimes it is best to just listen and be there without judgement. In my case I say, “it is like stopping a speeding train.” You can WILL the train to stop but it won’t, you can yell and scream at the train for it to stop but it won’t, you can take away the train’s windows but it will still keep moving.  I have to believe that somethings are just out of our control. Otherwise I am gonna beat myself up! boiling point_title

Today I am choosing my battles carefully because otherwise, I a bubbling over the top. Please tell me I am NOT the only one.  I am trying to see the silver lining. He is not into drugs, drinking, and other life dangerous things. He is not sick, (physically), He has some wonderful qualities. We are just going through a rough road. Although it has been a lifetime for him on this road. rough road I am working for a smoother tomorrow! Still learning how to parent a bipolar teen. Hoping tomorrow will be better!

SHARE YOUR WORLD – 2015 WEEK #48

Are you a hugger or a non-hugger?

HUGGER with a capital H!!!! I have been known to hug a perfect stranger! But if I feel the tension in a greeting I will stay hands off!

What is your favorite toppings on pizza?

Onions and mushroom! (Ha Onions and hugging seem like a match made in heaven!!!) Veggies all the way, although I have been known to eat pepperoni. Heck after not being able to eat pizza for so long I will eat it almost anyway it comes! What? Yep! Could not tolerate the spice in the tomato sauce or the tomatoes for that fact! Curious why? Check out “My Story” @ Sunny Oils

If you were the original designer of one existing corporate logo, which one would you select?

For me logos are a fascination! Your one quick chance to get your point across in an image or words. For me hands down it would be “Disney” that I would have designed. Just look at what it portrays… at least in my eyes! FUN, whimsy, personal! It is so easily incorporated into all aspects of the Disney company! I would so loved to have added my personal touch!

So logos have a whole psychology about them! I recently had to come up with a logo and had to convey a message to my “people”. You have to consider the psychology behind colors and emotions! Ha notice Disney is Black and white portraying “Balance”! And then look at Diversity! I think Disney needs to move into that color scheme as the parks are more diverse than most other places you go! People from all over the world walking and enjoying themselves in one place! Maybe knowing what the company aims to do with their logo it can help you feel more connected to the brand, the product and most of all the emotion they want you to feel.

Complete this sentence:  Where I can seek my solace is…

Really… I would like to say the beach or forest or somewhere out in nature cause I find those places most tranquil but in honesty it is my bedroom.

When I want to be left along, comforted, have a quiet break I run for the confines of my bedroom. Lights dim, diffuser going, fan swirling, peace and tranquility for sure! And of course my dogs are with me, giving me greater solace!

Bonus question:  What are you grateful for from last week, and what are you looking forward to in the week coming up?

Well, last week was Thanksgiving so I would like to say that but honestly it was having time off from the alarm clock! I love not having to set an alarm clock or really having to wake up to an alarm clock! Somehow my sleep is so much better with out the eminent sound!!!

Looking forward to Friday!!!!!!

Peace and Sleep… Zzzzz

Ohhh how my life has changed! From insomniac to snoozing in late! Who woulda thunk?

Tangerine, orange, ylang ylang, patchouli and blue tansy (enter scratch and sniff) is a powerful blend. Just two years ago I was up all hours of the night dreaming of getting a good night’s sleep, now melatonin, valerian root and Young Living’s Peace and Calming in the diffuser and 1 hour I am TOAST! That sweet feeling of being rested in the am and not being exhausted all day has returned. For years with fibro I dreamed that this feeling would return but even after many sleep meds I was not successful. Enter Peace and Calming and enter Great Sleep! This will be one oil I will NEVER be without. When traveling this is in my stash for sure!! A few weeks ago the dreaded empty bottle had me in tears. Thanks to a friend she gave up a bottle for the cause of my sleep, it only took a bit of begging! I truly have a love affair with this oil!

One Word for 2015…

In thinking about a word to focus on for 2015, I thought of many…dream, focus, peace, transform, serenity but one stuck with me… HARMONY!

I am needing a little Harmony in my life!

Harmony

Having a bipolar teenager is enough to send even the most calm and collected parent running for the hills or perhaps just under the covers!

Add on top of that being a Law Enforcement Officer’s wife, teaching full-time as a reading specialist working with struggling readers all day, tutoring afterschool, and running a business I need HARMONY Big time!

I am going to get some canvas and paint me a picture to hang up so I can focus on this!

HarmonyPainting

If something can be let go of I WILL LET IT GO… I will not add anymore stress to my already full plate. I will continue to find harmony between my illness and my business sharing my story with anyone who will listen. I will find harmony between my hubby and myself trying to find sometime to focus on each other. I will find harmony between my son and myself, letting the little things that teenagers harp on not get to me so much! I will find the harmony in 2015!

Hello Monday… Or NOT!

Ohhhh What a day!!! All I can say without these two oils I would have NOT made it through the day!!!

Monday

I started out with my teenage son up at 4:00 AM! Exercising and showering before school! Then a mini meltdown on the way to school. 3 miles NEVER FELT SO FAR! If you don’t have a teenager let’s just say at that moment I did not want one either!!! By the time I dropped him off at 7am I was already reaching for Stress Away!

STRESS AWAY v1.1

I applied to my wrists and took a few deep breaths ready to put the rough start behind me. Sigh… pull into my get my favorite HAPPY pick me up! An Arnold Palmer at Chik Fil A. Judge me not, I don’t drink coffee. So when I heard a man’s voice and not the happy cheerful Ginny I tensed up and ordered, only to hear “we don’t have lemonade this morning, would you like something else?” Ummmm…. Hold back the scream… “Cause you DID NOT make when you were supposed to???” Sigh… Ummm. “No, Thank you” and off I was to work! Without my happy drink! 😦

As I get to my classroom I notice my principal with the custodian popping in and out of classrooms. Mind you it is only 7:20 AM!!! So it was the day of our annual fire inspection… I do not use the fluorescent torture bulbs in my classroom. I have dim high effeciency light bulbs in lamps throughout my classroom. Well…sigh… apparently the fire inspector does not “like” lamps. So Out went my lamps all six of them into the storage closet unplugged and off. And HELLO TORTURE BULBS! That was when I reached for Oola Balance… Here is what Young Living says about this oil…

“Young Living and Oola have partnered together to offer this one of a kind essential oil blend Oola Balance. This blend is designed to align and balance your center giving you an increase in concentration with a positive outlook. As mind and body are balanced, the ability to focus on passions, behaviors, and health are amplified for the better.”

Oh My Aching Head…

“Chronic Daily Migraines” when I first heard those words put together from the neurologist I was like ummm… “YEAH” that IS what I have… Migraines EVERY day! It has a real name and I am NOT the only one??? Taking 6 Excedrine Tablets were my only savior.

headache image

MRIs, (white lesions on the brain from migraines), tests, poking a prodding and sooo many meds try to alleviate them, I was left to try an extreme intervention. Botox injections… 31 injections to say the least… Looking back on this day is quite traumatic…

Living with Fibromyalgia and Anxiety is no cake walk but this day is one etched in my mind and pain receptors and I think will remain there forever.

One hour drive to Cleveland Clinic… another day off work… into the office I go situated in a dark room… the doctor comes in and asks if I minded having an observer in the room, another doctor in training to do the injections. Well, what do you say? “Sure”  Why Not? Well little did I know that this meant that the doctor doing the injections would NARRATE the entire procedure… UMMM Let’s just say my Anxiety level increased with each injection!!!  “We put it here…2 cm to the left and she would be paralyzed as the botox would be too close to the spine… we put it here cause if it were too low her eyes could not open”… it went on and on for about 30 minutes this way… As the injections went in the pain levels increased… by the end tears were rolling down my cheeks. I wanted nothing more than for this day to be over and for the relief that was promised to come.

As most things go for me the procedure… DID NOT alleviate the headaches. I could not feel the surface of my skin… I could not move the muscles in my forehead… but the headaches endured. Once again I was left frustrated with modern medicine!

headache graphic

Enter Essential oils into my life… Ancient medicine and that all changed! Who knew that relief would come from tiny drops of oil. simple yet complex in oh so many ways.

HEADACHES v1.1

For me M-Grain, Peppermint and Panaway are my staples! No more toxic stuff going in my body… No more 6 Excedrine Migraine tablets a day… no more suffering!

Anyone who knows me well, I was a feel sick, go to the doctor, pop a pill and expect that it works kinda person. When this fallacy started to fail I was given just what I needed. Without Young Living I hate to think what other tortuous procedures I would have endured to find relief. I firmly believe that we must walk through the dark to see the light. The experience with Botox is evidence to me that I needed that to get where I am now… I just hope others can get there with less pain, less trauma and anxiety!

Anxiety- Am I THE Only One?

The American  Psychological Association defines anxiety as an emotion characterized by feelings of tension, worried thoughts and physical changes like increased blood pressure.

People with anxiety disorders usually have recurring intrusive thoughts or concerns. They may avoid certain situations out of worry. They may also have physical symptoms such as sweating, trembling, dizziness or a rapid heartbeat.

Well this is the night I dread each year! Can I be the only ONE??

Everyone seems to love the zombies, freaky masks, vampires and other haunts! (I DO LOVE the princesses and Superheros though)

I KNOW the blood, gore, weapons and clown costumes are FAKE but that doesn’t make my first reaction change in the least!

Fibromyalgia causes my mind to play tricks on me! My first reaction to the scary sights of Halloween is PANIC! I want to run… hide… cover my head and not peek! People often times think being scared is FUN but not for me! I don’t even like thriller type movies or TV shows!

Anxiety 2

So tonight I am oiled up with Stress Away and taking the haunts as they come. I want to lock the door and just say, “Nooooo” but I will suck it up in the spirit of the season! But please tell me I AM NOT THE ONLY ONE GRINNING AND BEARING IT!!!!!!

Lathered up and smelling great! Trying breathe through the panic!  Just saw a zombie Dorothy and Scarecrow (Is nothing sacred?)

STRESS AWAY v1.1

Frankincense – Medicine Through the Ages

As I began reading more and more about the oils I quickly realized that the one I had been avoiding was the one that was SO VERY beneficial! The history of Frankincense dates back past Biblical times. It is one oil that has been used for centuries for a VAST variety of needs! Just Listen to this AUDIO presentation!

Once I realized what power was held in this bottle I began adding it to my capsule each morning. What I noticed right away was that my inflammation from Fibromyalgia, Chronic Daily Migraines and Adenomyosis decreased greatly! Joints and muscles felt better within a week! Headaches decreased! I felt overall more healthy! I ordered a bottle of Sacred Frankincense to compare to two! Ohhh I quickly fell in love!!! The deep rich aroma is very calming and soothing! Having read the benefits of people with Cancer and Frankincense and having my mother passed at the age of fifty, I know this is one oil I will continue to take daily as my body just feels overall stronger with this oil!

When I was weaning off of Cymbalta, this summer, this one oil was my saving grace. I experienced severe brain zaps from this process, which if you have never heard of is quite painful! When I took 3-4 drops in a capsule my head felt so much better. The pain subsided and I could think clearly again. SERIOUSLY I DO NOT think I could have made it through the process of weaning off of this WICKED medicine without Frankincense!

FRANKINCENSE1

Now this is one of the more costly oils Young Living has to offer. I researched a little more as to why it is not a plentiful as others. This is what I found. Quite fascinating really!

Frankincense is a powerful healing oil. It is analgesic, anti-bacterial, anti-inflammatory, antiseptic, anti-depressant, astringent, cytophylatic (stimulating regeneration of cells), digestive, diuretic, expectorant, sedative, immune boosting tonic, and anti-carcinogenic. There are plenty of stories online detailing the POWERFUL healing benefits of Frankincense. Given my strong family history this is one oil I am willing to pay a little extra for!

FRANKINCENSE v1.1

{Click to Enlarge} Lots of tips on additional benefits and how to apply!

I have also made an anti-wrinkle cream with this oil! Here is the recipe! I had quick results with wrinkles around the eyes! Amazing really!

Ingredients: yields 1 cup

  • 1 cup organic coconut oil
  • 20 drops Frankincense essential oil

Preparation:

  1. Do not melt the coconut oil. It won’t whip if it is in liquid form.
  2. Measure 1 cup coconut oil and place it in a mixing bowl along with the essence oil. You can use a hand-held mixer or a stand mixer.
  3. Mix on high-speed for 8 minutes or until whipped into a light, airy consistency. It won’t get supper fluffy but you will notice a difference in the texture. Stop occasionally and with a spatula, scrape the sides.
  4. Scoop the coconut oil moisturizer into a glass jar(s) and cover tightly. Store at room temperature. The whipped coconut oil should stay relatively soft.
